As most of you may know by now, I am expecting my 3rd lil’ baby boy come May! I was so excited to finally put together this post, and share with you a lil’ bit about how this experience has refreshed my soul and my photography spirit as well!
I absolutely love being creative & going outside the box when I plan sessions! With that being said, I was pretty pumped to come up with something different for my own! While I love my Pinterest like the next girl, (heck I hope ya’ pin some of these shots 😉 ), many come in with set ideas in their heads which are nothing more than the replicas of other images they’ve seen online. This can stifle the creative process and rob what should be the best part in planning a “custom” portrait session….one that depicts YOU!
It is wonderful to look at other images for inspiration, but from there we need to make them our own! For my inspiration I looked to fashion magazines, landscapes, color palettes, album covers and merged, what I felt like, represents a style all my own! I enlisted the help of my amazing friend & photographer Susan Nawyn, as well as my best friend, Kate- who so awesomely doubles as my assistant/model!
It was refreshing to create a session that so perfectly memorializes for me this amazing and beautiful experience. As the fog rolled over the lake, the sun began to rise. We could not help but to take a minute to soak it in… this gorgeous brisk morning was nothing short of magical. These images are special for so many reasons, but the main one being, they will forever remind me to embrace these moments.
Here are a few highlights of my favorites for you!
I have to give a lil’ emotional shout out to my girls! (I am pregnant so I get a lil’ hall pass on this, right?!) Thank you for being willing to sacrifice your sleep, get into the cold rocky waters, risk possible gator attacks, and a few other unmentionables to make this happen! Kate you know you’re the lil’ anchor to my soul. My photog partner in crime, your servants heart always blesses mine and you’re talented beyond words. Thank you ladies for always going along with my crazy shenanigans as we laugh all the way through! I am honored to call you my friends.
Hope you enjoyed these highlights. Keep dreaming…
